How does the contemporary media represent nations, collective groups of people in different ways?

In misfits they have an extreme representation of young people by having them as young offenders. By using certain props and costumes it gives you the feeling that these kids are bad but then you learn more about them.

Misfits could comply with Louis Althusser's interpellation theory as when the young offenders are being interrogated by the woman about the disappearance of their social worker the character Nathan - who has been portrayed as being a loudmouth - is the one who takes the option of making up a ridiculous story about where the missing people are. This is in contrast to the character Simon who is a loner, something reflected by his ability to fade into the background and disappear, and who is silent and 'not seen' during the same scene.
